Kate Ternahan Nurse Practitioner | Pelvic Pain (all genders)/Women’s Health
Kate is a Nurse Practitioner/Pain Specialist with extensive experience. Kate has been a Registered Nurse for 31 years and Nurse Practitioner since 2013 and has worked in a specialist role as a pain nurse for 22 years. Her experience is multifaceted from acute pain to chronic pain conditions. She has worked in hospitals and primary care settings and was instrumental in setting up the Fiona Stanley Hospital pain service. She has also worked closely with integrated practitioners and naturopaths so has a good understanding how both the medical model and the integrated model of care work together. Her post graduate qualification is Masters of Nursing. She has been involved in research projects at Fremantle and Fiona Stanley Hospital and has provided many education sessions to other health professionals about effective pain management.
Chronic pain, particularly pain with sex can have a detrimental effect on a person’s quality of life and relationships and Kate is passionate about helping people to overcome this problem. Pain is an individual issue and requires thorough physical, emotional and lifestyle assessment to treat holistically, and Kate has a unique skill set to assist people in this area. She works collaboratively with medical practitioners and other health care professionals in this area.
