Pros and Cons of Water vs Battery Penis Pump

Different Types of Penis Pumps

There are many different types of penis pumps. A plethora can be found on any sex toy company website and various other medical supplier sites have models that are registered as Medical Devices. The main difference is some create the vacuum by using a hand pump or a battery/rechargeable motor that sucks out the air from the cylinder to create a vacuum and the other main type uses water to create the vacuum.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is that the penis gets exercised by being engorged, stretched, and lengthened.

Another major difference is the quality of the products the pumps are made out of and as with most things, you get what you pay for. That said, hopefully, you will only need to use the pump for a couple of years so it is worth weighing up the options. Pumps that are registered as medical devices can often get rebates from private health funds with a letter from your urologist stating it is required for rehabilitation. All funds and policies are different so call your fund to find out where you stand with this.

All Pumps have Pros and Cons

Personally, I like the Bathmate Hydro 7 for men following prostate surgery as they are usually incontinent (leaking urine) for at least 4 weeks and these pumps are not affected by this. The pumps that have a motor do not tolerate any moisture and thus this can be a problem. The Bathmate Hydro 7 is easy to clean (just rinse in the shower) and looks like a drain pump so if you leave it in the bathroom, no one will know what it is, they will just think you have plumbing issues.

This said, it does increase your shower time by 5 mins so water use goes up. To reduce this problem, one patient told me he uses it in the swimming pool. I just hope he has really high fences!! Or very liberal neighbours. I have found that some of the cheaper pumps work well. The only problem being they don’t have the longevity of the more expensive ones.

The RSHC shop sells Bathmate water pumps and Freespace motorised pumps and A Touchy Subject also sells a good quality hand pump. The Bathmate is made in England and has a 2 year warranty , the Freespace is made in China and doesn’t have a warranty period.

Have a look around and see what suits you best.
